WHY STAY ON THE GOLD COAST?
The Gold Coast is one of the most popular tourist destinations to visit in Australia. Sublime beaches along the 57 kilometres of coastline, an average water temp of 22 degrees and a subtropical climate all play a large part in drawing the near 12 million visitors each year.
It doesn’t stop there! The Gold Coast has superb shopping including Queensland’s largest shopping mall, pristine hinterland, an abundance of cafes, restaurants, and entertainment and it’s the theme park capital of Australia. No matter the purpose of your visit you can be sure you will find it on the Gold Coast and leave with a sunny glow and feeling of relaxation.
FEATURES TO CONSIDER WHEN SEARCHING FOR GOLD COAST FAMILY ACCOMMODATION
PRICE – Do you have a budget?
No matter how long or where you stay, your accommodation is normally going to be one of the top two largest parts of your trip away (the other being flights if required). Before you start searching for accommodation, know your budget. This may, in turn, narrow down your options and avoid you spending more than you want. For a popular tourist destination, you will still be able to find budget family accommodation on the Gold Coast.
ROOMS – How many guests are travelling and how many rooms do you need?
Many properties can accommodate two adults and two children (sharing existing bedding and under a certain age) within one room. This is going to be the less expensive option; however, I urge you to think about how comfortable you will be during your stay, and this will depend a lot on the ages of your children.
FACILITIES – How much time will you be spending at the hotel or resort?
The star rating can be used as a guide to the properties cleanliness, quality, and guest facilities. Four and five-star ratings mean a property has a wide range of facilities and superior guest service.
LOCATION – Will you have a mode of transport with you?
Location is very important when you are looking for a place of accommodation. If you won’t have a vehicle during your trip than public transport can be an additional cost that you will need to consider. This can also eat into your holiday time as you will need to plan around scheduled times. Bare this in mind as you may feel the decision to stay somewhere central beneficial.
DINING – Are you foodies?
Do you like to dine out and try different cuisine or is a cheap eat more to your liking? Either way, research the dining options around where you are staying and in the place of your accommodation.
SPECIAL FAMILY OFFERS – Check out the properties website!
When searching for Gold Coast accommodation for kids, it pays to look at the hotel or resorts direct website for possible special accommodation offers. Go one step further and give them a call – you never know until you ask!
WEBSITES – Check out other websites for Gold Coast accommodation deals.
There are many leading accommodation websites available to book places to stay and fine-tune your options by selected features and price.
One I would recommend for ease of use and great accommodation offers is Booking.com
REVIEWS – Do you look at reviews?
Lastly, once you have selected a shortlist of accommodation, I would suggest looking at the reviews from either their website or Tripadvisor.com. Nothing is better than word of mouth, but always keep in mind that someone else’s perception can be very different to your own, so I recommend reading the reviews, but always leave the final judgment to yourself.
