The Sunshine Coast is one of those destinations that locals and tourists flock to for that weekend getaway or extended vacation. We found a resort that was a perfect retreat for the whole family yet includes oodles of fun activities. Our Novotel Twin Waters Resort review shares our experience and why we found this accommodation venue to be extremely family-friendly.
The Novotel Twin Waters Resort is situated over 36 hectares with a beach-lined private lagoon as the centerpiece. There is no shortage of things to do at this resort, in fact, it is one of the best places to stay if you want to enjoy the outdoors and the glorious Sunshine Coast weather.
If your family loves the water than you can’t look past Novotel Twin Waters Resort. Its private lagoon is the centre for all the action; test out your sailing skills on one of their catamarans large enough to hold our family of four. Another way to explore more of the lagoon is by paddling around on the single or double kayaks. Safety is a priority with these facilities, and the resort has life vests to fit everyone before going out on the water.
Nestled between the lagoon and the main building of the resort is the outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. With two shallow pools and a step that curves around the edge, it is suited not only to older kids but in particular the younger children. With ample lounge chairs and some dining tables inside the swimming enclosure, it is normally a hive of activity.
ON LAND ACTIVITIES
Enjoy a friendly game of mini golf at the front of Novotel Twin Waters Resort or burn off some more energy on one of the Springfree trampolines you will find on the beach. These facilities are complimentary for resort guests.
NO SUCH THING AS BOREDOM
There is no such thing as boredom when you stay here, and just in case you need more convincing of the resorts endless activities, stand up paddleboards and bikes are available to hire. There is also the option of taking a Segway tour or playing a game of tennis and 18-holes of golf nearby. For those who want to relax the Lagoon Day Spa is the best way to treat yourself.
The Novotel Twin Waters Resort is situated on Ocean Drive, offering direct access to a beautiful quiet beach for the guests. Depending on where your room is located it can be a 5 to 15-minute walk to the patrolled beach.
There are many room options to accommodate singles, couples, and families at Novotel Twin Waters Resort. The accommodation blocks have two levels and are surrounded by lush tropical gardens and bushland or positioned on the water overlooking the pristine lagoon.

As a family of four, we opted to stay within a one bedroom suite as it gave us more room for our belongings and space for when we wanted to return and relax in our room. We added a single rollaway bed so both girls could have separate beds during the stay, but if you have children that can comfortably sleep together the double sofa bed would be more than adequate. The main bedroom can be separated from the lounge room, and the large bathroom with a spa bath and separate shower has two-way access.
*Children’s ages restrictions apply to the room types; please contact the resort to confirm.
If you would like some extra spending money, courtesy of the resort make sure you take advantage of the conservation credit that is on offer to you within your room. If you choose not to have your room serviced you will receive a $15 credit to use towards food and beverage charges during your stay. It’s a great way to help reduce the impact on the environment.
You can find the information for this credit in your room with all the terms and conditions.
If you choose not to leave the resort during your stay, you can be sure that you will not go hungry at any time. All appetites and budgets are accommodated for with the many eating options at Novotel Twin Waters Resort.
Nouveau – The popular restaurant offers a different themed buffet every night apart from Friday and Saturday which is a seafood buffet. Nouveau is also where you can go for the very popular buffet breakfast serving everything you could want for breakfast. There is also a free espresso coffee station for those that like to start their day with a caffeine hit.
Aqua Lounge and Bar – We found ourselves dining at Aqua Lounge and Bar for lunch and dinner during our stay. Its relaxed atmosphere, alfresco dining, and extensive menu selection kept us returning for more.
Deli Café Market – If you have forgotten to bring something with you to the resort chances are you may find it here. Selling everything from snack foods, alcohol, gifts – it’s a little convenience store in the resort.
Grabit and Go – With the option of dining in your room, or anywhere on the beautiful grounds, Grabit and Go is a one-stop takeaway shop with bistro style menu offering burgers and pizzas.
Lagoon Fish & Chippery – Open daily in December and January the poolside venue offers meals and beverages to take away or to have while your relaxing poolside.
Free BBQ Facilities – For those that want to cook their food, there are free barbeque facilities located in the middle of each accommodation block surrounded by the lush tropical gardens.
Kids Dining – Of course at a resort that accommodates so many children, there was always going to be a kid’s menu to satisfy all appetites.
SECRET GARDEN BY PIMMS
During our stay, the Novotel Twin Waters Resort was hosting a summer series on Friday and Saturday nights. On the lawns close to Nouveau restaurant there was a pop-up “secret garden” where you could chill out listening to live music, play a lawn game, order a pizza and enjoy some Pimms. This event was running until the 9th of February, but it was mentioned to me on check out that due to the popularity it may become a permanent feature – watch this space.
The Novotel Twin Waters Resort knows how to entertain the kids. If all the included activities weren’t enough, during the school holidays they also had planned activities you could participate in; some paid, but most complimentary from tug o-war, fish feeding, limbo, beach flags and so many more.
There is complimentary outside parking near your accommodation block for all resort guests.
